Default How to handle cheating?

I am slowly learning PvP, so I ask this to anyone who has encountered this before.

Our team of 4 sliced through 3 of the other team really quick. At this point, they hung around, one of their monks said she was turning on a macro, and then just stood still. Because of RA, we don't have anyone who can remove enchantments or kd or anything... we just deal damage apparently. We can't hurt her, and she's just standing there, obviously afk. We all took screenies of her saying she was turning on the macro. Is this a reportable offense? I ask only because we are in minute 35 of this stupid battle. Also, is this commonplace?

Anet's policy on macros is actually quite light, in that they're OK with practically anything as long as you're actually THERE.

AFKing while your computer plays for you, however, is quite bannable.

Maybe I'm just a noob, but I think needing a macro to begin with is laughable. We all just left eventually, not too long after my post. I reported it, so they can do whatever it is they want. I really don't expect much from them. I'll just keep playing.

They weren't using a macro, just saying that so you would leave, knowing that hanging around was futile. Usually when two teams in RA are too noob to kill one another, it turns into some retarded psychological game where you try and get the other team to leave. Some players will say "I've got a television in my room I can stay here all night lol", others will claim they're using a macro.

Really, you shouldn't have hung around an RA game for 30 minutes in the first place.

When you're close to that glad point, your focus shifts. And our team basically was in mower mode. Plus our team was typing to each other the whole time. He just had that one setup that when everything was pressed just right, we could not hurt him. Furthermore, he was no help to his team. If I had my PvE setup, he'd have been dead because it's set up for a little bit of everything. Trust me, it won't happen again.

I'll just let this end here. Thanks for the replies. I'm not worried about this or RA anymore truthfully.

I have ran into to this kind of thing lately. I bet it was a dervish and probably a D/E. We saw one that was using Obsidian flesh and he couldn't really take any large amounts of damage with the group i was in. I was playing monk, so i couldn't do anything anyway. We all left after a few minutes of everyone taunting.

He said it was a monk. My guess is this monk had 55 health, prot spirit and healing breeze. Congratulations, you got farmed like an aataxe.

if u want gladiator, i dont suggest doing RA in the first place...there's plenty of noobs to farm in TA...i got gladr2 in 1 day of TAing....

~and on another note u said "Our team of 4 sliced through 3 of the other team really quick" and "When you're close to that glad point, your focus shifts." 5 consecs = not close to glad point in RA ...u never know which team could pop up with 2 monks

~besides....who actually takes serious builds into RA ...i mean ffs its Retard arenas u can win with anything...i got a glad point running a Healers Boon W/mo....

50 glad points times 10 matches times 90 seconds is quite a bit. LIke 12.5 hours (straight, no breaks no pause, no waiting, "pawning" teams in 60 secs), provided u make all these streaks at once. I think u are exaggerating a bit here.

If they would have been using macros they would violate the EULA as far as i know, also a macro is third party software. Proving they actually use it is quite "difficult" if not impossible.

Yeah, TA is it for me now. I should have been more clear, I'm doing TA not RA anymore. RA was wierd though. One time we had a good team, and it started putting us in TA for like 4 matches.

It does that when you get to 10 consecutive wins.

I believe that if someone types in chat window that he/she is using a macro and you report it to ANet, it would be up to that player to prove he/she was NOT using one.

Reporting things like this is not useless. ANet investigates (checks logs, watches for more reports, etc.) and will punish the violator as they see fit. Their normal bans are short and increase in length as violations continue. Get enough valid complaints and you are gone permanently.

What players fail to take into account is this takes time. Unless you screw up right in front of a ANet employee, the whole process can take days to weeks. With 3 million plus games sold, and the amount of stupid behavior we all see daily, ANet must get thousands of violation reports daily.

why would you get owned by some invincimonk build? or was he simply out-healing. either way why would you come here and complain. if you cant kill a sad build like that dont come complain someplace where people will make fun of you.

You do realize that he was asking how he would report the person for saying they were using a macro, right? Not because he couldn't kill that person...

I know that, but he probably wasnt using a macro, its pretty sad to have 4 people beating on 1 monk for 30 minutes.

Don't forget that even if ANET bans someone, they won't tell you about it. Your only hope is that the person that got banned finds out you caused it, so that he or his friend will tell you he got banned. Depending on how he tells you, you might be able to get him banned again for harassment.

Good job on being constructive and staying on topic.

At any rate, I believe what Darcy stated is right-on. ANet is bombarded daily with reports and it does take considerable time to investigate. The responsibility to prove innocence rests with the suspected player, considering the statements portrayed in-game.

Sorry man. I am just getting into this and don't have all the warrior skills yet. Sometimes we get a ranger, necro or mesmer with better shutdown capabilities, but we randomly didn't this time.

Darcy is straight and to the ponit. And, nevermind the banned people that do all they can to return to the game under a false pretense.
